I Am Proud of My Creation!

Our gardens brought me an immense challenge and immeasurable joy!

My urban prairie remains the show stopper, and I've been working on it for six years.

This year, Larry helped me plow up some useless sod to plant a real garden. He did the heavy lifting with the rototiller, which I was not able to maneuver. I told him about a segment I saw on the Smithsonian channel in which the Native American gardens were featured, specifically "the three sisters." All I had to say was "Native American" "they taught the white men" and "perfect balance of nutrients" and he was hooked. We dedicated about half the garden to his Three Sisters project which included a mound of four corns, pole beans to group up the stalks, and squash (plus cucumbers and melons) to act as weed control.

I also started in earnest my "English Cottage Garden" in the front, which will feature the beautiful blues, purples, and pinks of foxglove, delphinium, columbine, primrose, dianthus, lilies, and lavender.

I'll let the beauty speak for itself.
